Expertise & Safety

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment for a tattoo?
We specialize in custom pieces and walk-ins alike. While small designs can often be handled on the spot, booking ensures your preferred artist has the dedicated time required for complex, high-precision work.
What are your studio hygiene standards?
ArtCraft Tattoo operates under strict clinical protocols. We use only single-use, medical-grade sterilized needles and high-end barrier protection. Our environment is sanitized between every client to ensure a 100% sterile experience.
What is the minimum age for a tattoo?
In accordance with Hungarian law and professional ethics, we only tattoo individuals aged 18 and over. Valid government-issued photo ID is mandatory for all clients before a session begins.
How is tattoo pricing determined?
Pricing is a reflection of the artist's expertise, the design's complexity, and the estimated time for completion. We provide transparent quotes during our consultation process—either via email or in-person at our Budapest studio.
Can you cover up old ink or scars?
Our artists possess the technical expertise to integrate or cover existing tattoos and scars. This requires a professional assessment of tissue health and ink saturation to ensure a successful, aesthetically pleasing result.
How should I prepare for my session?
Optimal results require a healthy canvas. We recommend being well-hydrated, having a full meal 1-2 hours before your appointment, and ensuring you are well-rested. Avoid alcohol or blood-thinning medications for 24 hours prior.
What aftercare protocol do you recommend?
Longevity is determined by the healing phase. We provide medical-grade aftercare instructions, typically involving gentle cleansing and specific hydration balms. Avoid direct sun, swimming, and saunas for the first 14 days.
Are your inks vegan and safe?
We exclusively use industry-leading, EU-certified pigments that are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. These inks are selected for their vibrant longevity and high safety profiles, minimizing the risk of adverse reactions.
Does tattooing hurt?
While discomfort is part of the process, our artists use refined techniques to manage skin trauma. Most clients describe the sensation as a minor irritation. We focus on creating a calm, professional atmosphere to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course! We’d love to have your friends or family along. While we ask that only one guest joins you in the actual tattooing area to keep things calm and professional for the artist, our cozy waiting area is always open for everyone else to hang out and enjoy the studio vibe while you get inked.

Tattoo guide

Expert tips for a safe, professional, and unforgettable tattoo experience

1

Evaluate Pain Management and Comfort

A professional tattoo studio prioritizes your comfort during the process. Experienced artists will explain the level of sensation expected for different placements and styles, and offer strategies such as breaks, numbing creams, or calming techniques. Ensuring comfort is part of their commitment to a high-quality, client-focused experience.

2

Understand the Healing Process

Healing varies by size, placement, and skin type. Typically, surface healing takes 2–3 weeks, while full healing under the skin can take up to 3 months. Top studios provide written instructions and professional guidance to manage expectations, prevent complications, and ensure the tattoo settles beautifully and safely over time.

3

Follow Expert Aftercare Instructions

Aftercare directly impacts the longevity and vibrancy of a tattoo. Leading studios offer precise guidance on cleaning, moisturizing, and avoiding irritants such as sun exposure, swimming, or friction. Following these professional recommendations minimizes infection risk and ensures your tattoo heals evenly and retains its intended quality.

4

Assess Session Duration

Understanding session length helps you plan and ensures a relaxed experience. A professional artist provides realistic estimates based on complexity, size, and placement. Rushing a tattoo can compromise quality, so reputable studios emphasize taking the necessary time to achieve precise, detailed, and lasting results.

5

Learn What Practices to Avoid

Trusted studios educate clients about common mistakes that affect healing, such as scratching, excessive sun exposure, or tight clothing. They also advise on lifestyle factors, like avoiding intense workouts that may stretch or irritate fresh ink. Following these precautions protects your investment in a lasting, flawless tattoo.

6

Evaluate Cost Transparency

High-quality tattoo work reflects skill, experience, and hygiene standards. The best studios provide upfront pricing with no hidden fees, including consultation, design, and aftercare guidance. Transparent pricing demonstrates professionalism and earns client trust while ensuring fair compensation for expert artistry.

7

Recognize Normal Healing Sensations

Itching, mild redness, and slight tenderness are standard during the healing process. Reputable studios explain these sensations and when to seek professional advice for unusual symptoms. This expertise reassures clients and reinforces the studio’s commitment to safety and client wellbeing.

8

Ask About Artist Expertise

Discussing an artist’s experience ensures your vision aligns with their strengths. Leading studios showcase portfolios, certifications, and client testimonials. Asking about style specialization, sterilization practices, and prior work guarantees that your tattoo is executed with professional skill and artistic precision.

9

Consider Safety and Ink Quality

Reputable studios adhere to strict hygiene standards, using sterilized equipment and disposable materials. They also select certified, high-quality inks that are safe for skin and minimize allergic reactions. Prioritizing safety demonstrates their professionalism, protects your health, and ensures the tattoo maintains its vibrant appearance.

10

Ensure Longevity of Your Tattoo

Proper care directly impacts how a tattoo ages. Top studios provide guidance on sun protection, moisturizing routines, and lifestyle considerations to preserve vibrancy and detail. Following these expert recommendations ensures your tattoo remains a beautiful, lasting work of art that reflects both your vision and the artist’s skill.
